WELCOME to the XLOG SourceForge Page.

Did You say XML?

If you think you're not concerned by the XML development wave, these pages will not be of much help for you, unless you want to implement this tool using a programming language not yet provided by this project (PHP, Java).

But if you're using XML as a developer, with or without a long experience of coding using this fine markup language, we hope this tool will help you in some way.

Why XML as a logging format?

With more and more tools beeing developed around XML it seems natural to use XML to structure log documents, thus giving the possibility to easily retrieve, navigate or transform logging data, to improve software development and administration.

XLOG markup is restrained, targeted to be as efficient as possible. So its performance impact on the logging process is negligeable.
As an evidence, have a look at an example of XLOG used as a profiling tool right now.

What about documentation?

There is not too much documentation about XLOG: it's not necessary. The code has been carefully design and reading it should be self-explanatory.
Nevertheless, for a quick introduction to XLOG basic use and features, go to the Tutorial page

For a more formal definition of XLOG structure, have a look at XLOG XML Schema. And thanks to the DSCT Titamium xs3p schema documentation generator, here is the same schema nicely formatted.

What about a contribution?

If you want to contribute to the improvement and enhancement of XLOG, read the Contribution section to see what kind of help we are waiting for.

Where to download?
